The northeast ocean data portal has released two new bathymetry map layers for the gulf of maine provided by the university of new hampshire joint hydrographic center/center for coastal and ocean mapping (unh jhc/ccom). It is bounded by cape cod at the eastern tip of massachusetts in the southwest and by cape sable island at the southern tip of nova scotia in the northeast. Under the surface, the elevated sea floor of george’s bank shapes the flow of currents and divides the gulf of maine from the atlantic ocean south of cape cod.
